We are looking for Studio Lead for our dynamic new Creative Studio in Nairobi. This role is to lead, co-ordinate and manage all tasks associated with running a studio. This role is the fulcrum of the studio operations.
It is key that any applicant is highly motivated and personable and willing to work in a fast pace creative industry and be very much a team player. A keen eye for detail and maintaining a frictionless user experience for both staff and clients is crucial to meet the standards and quality of the Mint Glint Studio as a creative space.
The key activities outlined below represent an overview of the position of Studio Lead and should not be seen as a prescriptive list of activities. A flexible, creative, innovative and responsive approach is vital, together with initiative in identifying and focusing on what needs to be done to contribute to the achievement of business objectives.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Oversee the day-to-day operations of the studio, ensuring smooth and efficient workflows. These includes; planning, resource allocation, and workflow management.
- Reports to and assist the Creative Director in his role of managing the entire creative hub.
- Coordinate a team of other creative professionals, providing guidance and support.
- Welcoming and Hosting Clients, Creatives and visitors into the studio and manage their stay and interaction within the Mint Glint Studios.
- Clients Relations Build and maintain relationships with clients, ensuring their needs are understood and met, and that projects are delivered on time and within budget and high-quality standards are met.
- Coordinating Bookings and scheduling of Photography, Podcasting and Audio/Music Studio facilities/spaces within the hub and general Studio Diary Management.
- Allocate resources effectively, including personnel, equipment, and studio space.
- Act as the primary point of contact for clients, managing communications, expectations, and feedback.
- Ensure all studio equipment is properly maintained, upgraded, and functional.
- Financial Management: Clients Invoicing, Monitor studio budgets, expenses, and profitability, making strategic decisions to maximize revenue and minimize costs.
- Quality Assurance: Ensure that all creative work produced by the studio meets quality standards and aligns with client expectations.
- Business Development: Identify growth opportunities and develop strategies to expand the studio’s client base and revenue streams.
- Coordinating the Studio marketing strategy, e.g. Branding, website, social media platform, to promote the studio and its resources. Responding to queries online queries about the Mint Glint studio.
- Managing procurement of printing, large format production, software and services subscriptions and organise deliveries.
- Proofing and reviewing designs and checking all official documents before they are sent
- Assisting on the creative production side when needed and meeting with team members for feedback
- Managing Content libraries and branding assets. Ensuring files are stored and named according to protocols and timesheets are completed effectively.
- Assessing, documenting and reviewing clients feedback and satisfaction through developed tools e.g. an in-person meeting, a phone call or an online satisfaction survey.
- Manage/maintain hardware/software schedule & asset list
- Manage Production Crew Logistics and welfare for field production assignments.
- Social Committee, organise & diarise social events: Charity work, Easter, Christmas party etc.
The Successful Applicant’s Skills, Knowledge, and Experience as a Studio Manager:
- Will have excellent organizational and time management skills.
- A proactive attitude, strong communicator and confident in working both independently and as part of a team
- Experience working with partners including IT support to keep the studio running as smoothly and efficiently as possible
- Previous work experience in a similar role.
- Strong ability to lead, mentor, and manage interns.
- Great Interpersonal skills with the ability to maintain professional relationships with clients and partners, relationship-building, and managing client expectations.
- Proficiency in managing multiple projects, timelines, and budgets simultaneously.
- Knowledge of studio operations, workflows, and best practices.
- Ability to effectively allocate and manage resources, including personnel, equipment, and studio space.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills for clear and effective interaction with clients, team members, and stakeholders.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to address and resolve studio-related challenges.
- Familiarity with the tools and technologies used in a creative studio environment, including software and hardware. Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite: Word/Excel/PowerPoint and Photography CRM tools.
- Attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high-quality standards in all studio outputs.
- Familiarity with accounting skills preparation of accurate invoices that reflect the use of a studio and its resources by a client. Strong accounting skills may also help ensure the cost management and effective revenue collection.
- The ability to have a 360-degree knowledge of all of the components of the Mint Glint Studio as a creative hub.
Nice to Have:
- Experience in a creative roles such as design, editing, photography, or production.
- Experience in organizing and managing studio events or exhibitions.
- Familiarity with the latest design and production software, as well as emerging technologies.
- Ability to contribute to business development and sales strategies.
- Ability to build and maintain a network of industry contacts.
- Proficiency in analyzing performance data to optimize studio operations.
This role is office based, 5.5 days a week and covers core office hours of an 8 hours shift Per day with health breaks.
